During Memorial Day weekend, Nintendo of America and the Los
Angeles Zoo will be hosting a four-day event and renaming the
gorilla habitat as “Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D at Campo
Gorilla Reserve” to celebrate the release of Donkey Kong
Country Returns 3D for Nintendo 3DS and to bring awareness to
the endangered gorillas, whose relatives in the wild face threats
such as poaching and habitat loss. The fun and educational
activities include a “Donkey Kong Interactive Experience”
involving the zoo’s family of lowland gorillas. The animals will
receive cardboard barrels (inspired by the ones found in the game)
that are filled with treats and that enrich their behavior.
Visitors and fans can also play Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D
at various kiosks in the zoo and take pictures with the costumed
            Donkey Kong character.
